AUGUST 1, 2016 – Rising country artist Mo Pitney will release his debut Curb Records project Behind This Guitar on October 7. The album contains the song “Come Do A Little Life” (Hill/Pitney/Nance). The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will open its Alabama: Song of the South exhibition on Aug. 25. Expected to run through July 16, 2017, the exhibit will detail the group Alabama’s journey to success through childhood mementos, musical instruments, tour memorabilia, awards, photographs, and will include the original manuscript to the song “Born Country” (Hill/Schweers), which was a #1 hit for Alabama in 1992.  In conjunction with the upcoming exhibit, the boys were back in town on July 6th for a private museum membership concert performance at the CMA Theater. Moe Bandy with special guests The Oak Ridge Boys recorded “A Place To Hang My Hat” (Hill/Long/Camp) for the new Moe Bandy album called Lucky Me which was released July 29th. Moe has had a great career…10 No. 1 Hits, 40 Top Ten Hits, 66 Chart Hits, 5 Gold Albums, ACM Song of The Year, ACM most Promising Male Vocalist of the Year, American Video of the year, ACM and CMA Duet of the Year. The song “A Place To Hang My Hat” has garnered quite a list of cover recordings through the years that include Porter Wagoner, Randy Travis, and The Grascals. The 2013 Canadian Country #1 hit “When Your Lips Are So Close” (Hill/Baxter/Bamford) has been listed as one of the “Top 10 Most Sold Digital Country Songs By Canadian Artists OF ALL TIME!” by the online country music magazine Top Country.  As reported here in June, the legendary Mickey Gilley is the process of recording his new album to be entitled Kickin’ It Down The Road, and will include the song “Kickin’ It Down The Road” (Hill/Cosner/Kenny). The current single “Prove Me Wrong” (Hill/Metcalfe) by award winning Canadian singer Amy Metcalfe on Royalty Records is now charting on the Canadian/Country charts.  Up and coming artist Chas Collins has released his EP containing “Big Town, Small World” (Hill/Fisher). Chas tours constantly and is preparing songs to record again sometime soon.  Hoping to report soon on new recordings by Australian artists Karin Page, and Amber Lawrence. Thanks to Dan Hodges Music and the company’s strong presence in Australia, Byron and other DHM writers have been writing with quite a few Aussie artists and producers during the past year including Clive Young, the band Victoria Avenue, Alan Caswell, Melanie Dyer, Missy Lancaster, Kaylee Bell, Adam Eckersley, Melinda Schneider, Tasha Amoroso, and the duo Baylou. Upcoming writing dates are also set with the Aussie band The Wolfe Brothers. On July 8th Mark Chesnutt released his fifteenth studio album entitled Tradition Lives. The album contains the song “What I Heard” (Hill/Stone), a song written more than seventeen years ago.
